CDI Partners to Work on IN OUR TIME

Welcome to summer!  It’s the day after the solstice and the season of gardens, hammocks and picnics is officially upon us.  We’re continuing to make progress on the August releases for HEAVEN’S NEIGHBORS and FIGURE IN THE FOREST.  We are wrapping up a review of proof copies and are excited about how they look — DVD menu, extras, transfer.  In a new step for CDI, we are also working on preparing a soundtrack for FIGURE IN THE FOREST.  For a combined sneak peek at the extras and soundtrack, check out the music video for “I Will Wait for You.”

In other news, CDI partners DJ Perry and Jeff Kennedy are preparing for a project outside the CDI umbrella.  B4 Tyme Entertainment Corp’s production IN OUR TIME will have Jeff in the director’s chair and DJ on the other side of the camera, playing Jesus of Nazareth.  A recent story through Michigan PR Net and interview with DJ via Michigan Movie Talent have more details on the project–check them out! As final pre-production details are finalized on that project, DJ will be in NYC with a role in a comedy.

It’s looking like it will be pretty busy here this summer.  Now, where’s that hammock?

New Releases

Another announcement. . . Two dramas from the CDI vault will get a wide DVD release. FIGURE IN THE FOREST and HEAVEN’S NEIGHBORS will have US distribution via Triumphant Entertainment International through their E1 output. They released BLOOD TIES and AN ORDINARY KILLER in Oct. 09. FIGURE has started to find an audience after being licensed to TBN last year but this will be the 1st wide DVD release for the two films.  Look for new websites, trailers and a July release for the two films.

In an odd coincidence in timing earlier this week, our own Dean Teaster met a fan who found FIGURE and watches the film regularly to help her cope with the loss of her own child.  That’s some powerful feedback!  While dramas might not be an easy genre for filmmakers to get into the marketplace early in their careers, they are often more satisfying to produce.  Congratulations to all the artists associated with those two films. In particular, big congrats to Jeff Kennedy who directed them both and is slated to direct WILD MICHIGAN this year.

What? Did we just say WILD MICHIGAN?  Yes, we did, but we’re not going to say more right now.  After the negative turn of events when we were ready to go into production in the fall of 2008, we’re not going to say too much too soon.  However, we are making progress in getting legs back under this film and hope to make a formal announcement sometime before the middle of the year.

In other news, CDI co-production LOCKED IN A ROOM is rolling camera!  RENOVATION has been quietly progressing in post and after seeing the rough trailer and the color correct tests we are sure the finished trailer and new website will be worth the wait. Our doc film OUTSIDE THE WIRE has had Tony Hornus hard at work on voice over.

Part of the CDI team will be on the set of LOCKED IN A ROOM tonight, so it’s time to get ready for that.  Enjoy your weekend and thanks for checking in with CDI.

Ramping Up for GHOST TOWN’s Release & WILD MICHIGAN Production

The last days of summer are bringing hurricanes to the coast, and movies to Michigan. It is a turbulent time, both bad and good. For CDI, the path to WILD MICHIGAN has been a long and winding one.

But we’re pleased to announce that we have found our locations for the shoot, and having just received our state approval, are preparing to enter actual pre-production. This means we will soon be able to finalize various contracts needed to move the machine forward.

On a related note, type-setting for the novelization of WILD MICHIGAN, written by Lansing author Dee Freeman, will soon begin. The book will be released through Alexander Books, who also released Teaster, based on the screenplay for Dean Teaster’s GHOST TOWN THE MOVIE.

Pre-sales have begun in advance of GHOST TOWN’s October 28th release. And while GHOST TOWN co-director Jeff Kennedy prepares for WILD MICHIGAN, Dean Teaster is laying the foundation for his next project, TIMBERWOLF. For more info, see the official release that went out today.

If one thing’s clear, it’s that CDI has got more stories in the pipeline…

New Year, New Website

Welcome to the new online face of CDI. We’ll continue adding content and updates with progress on current projects, so keep coming back if you want to know what we’re up to. You know you want to know what we’re up to!

Right now we’re busy juggling a few different projects in active development:

  • Negotiating a deal to license Ghost Town for domestic and international distribution
  • Doing stateside filming for Outside the Wire–a documentary project from the mind of Tony Hornus
  • Working on a new Jeff Kennedy sword and sorcery tale
  • Developing a treatment for a new Dean Teaster Western yet to be announced
  • Researching and putting together a business plan for a new Civil War project

The CDI tribe will be active around the world in 2008, so don’t go away…
